
1. Overview
Hosting.ca enforces a strict No Spam Policy for all email services including Hosted Exchange, Simple Email, and SmarterMail.
Account owners are responsible for all activity originating from their accounts.
Violations may result in immediate suspension without notice.
Hosting.ca may also suspend any hosting account or website that sends spam or relays malicious content.

2. Definition of Spam
“Spam” includes Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE) and Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) — any message the recipient considers unsolicited or unwanted.
3. Reporting Spam
Forward complete spam messages (including headers) and a signed complaint to abuse@hosting.ca.
Anonymous submissions are not processed.
4. Prohibited Email Activities
Sending spam or bulk unsolicited email.
Collecting addresses from spam.
Advertising sites via spam.
Mail bombing, harassment, or malicious attachments.
Using mailing lists without opt-in consent.
5. Mailing List Requirements
Option A – Listserve (Self-Subscribe)
Clear subscribe notice, simple unsubscribe, valid offline contact, remove bounced or opt-out addresses. No purchased lists.
Option B – General Mailing Lists
Provide opt-in notice, use double opt-in, include unsubscribe link in every message, keep records, no rented lists.
6. Complaint Processing and Enforcement
First Event: Warning.
Second Event: Final warning.
Third Event: Permanent suspension of email capabilities.
Immediate suspension if Hosting.ca servers are blacklisted.
Cleanup and RBL delisting billed at $150 CAD/hour, standard RBL fee $300.
7. Customer Security Responsibilities
Customers must maintain strong passwords and clean local devices.
Weak credentials or infected systems can lead to unauthorized spam.
Hosting.ca is not responsible for:
Phishing emails received by customers,
Links clicked or malware installed by users,
Local spam filters or security software choices.
If an account is compromised, containment and cleanup work are billable at standard rates.
8. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, as referenced in the Terms and Conditions.
9. Related Policies
At Hosting.ca we also offer dedicated IP outbound relays. This means that all mails get sent by your own dedicated IP address for outbound mail. This is not shared, and guarantees the source of your mail is clean. Please contact us for more information on this service. This service is available for all email hosting plans.
