Migrating from G Suite to Exchange
There are a few requirements before moving your email from Google to an Exchange platform. We will show you migrating from G Suite to Exchange services. Our free migration tool will allow our server to connect to your Gmail account and move its content over via IMAP protocol.
3 Requirements
1. IMAP Access Must be Enabled Globally
Follow this article to enable POP/IMAP globally under your domain from the Google Admin console.
- Sign in to Google Admin Console
- From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps and then G Suite and then Gmail and then Advanced settings.
- In the Organizations section, select the organizational unit you want to configure settings for.
- Next to POP and IMAP Access, check or uncheck the Disable POP and IMAP access for all users box.
2. Control Access To Less Secure Apps
The setting should be: Enforce access to less secure apps for all users. Original Gmail article here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/6260879
- Sign in to Google Admin Console
- From the Admin console Home page, go to Security and then Basic settings.
- Under Less secure apps, select Go to settings for less secure apps.
- In the subwindow, select the Enforce access to less secure apps for all users radio button.
3. Enable IMAP for your mailbox
This is where our server connects to your mailbox. See the original G suite document on how to enable IMAP for your account.
- On your computer, sign in to Gmail with your G Suite account.
- In the top right, click Settings.
- At the top, click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Don’t see this tab? Make sure IMAP is enabled for your domain. - In the IMAP Access section, select Enable IMAP.
- At the bottom, click Save Changes.
