Sync SmarterMail CardDAV and CalDAV

CardDAV for iPhone

Synchronize your mobile device running iOS with your Smartermail account using CardDAV and CalDAV. CardDAV and CalDAV is a special protocol that allows your mobile device to talk to the Smartermail server. This allows an Exchange-like service without the Exchange-like price.

Requirements for this service to work

• SmarterMail hosting plan
• iOS or Android device

If you’re using an Android device, you will need a 3rd party app to sync your Calendars and Contacts to your phone. We used OpenSync. See our Android CardDAV setup document.

For this demonstration, iOS 11 was used.

Configuration Steps

1. Open the settings application.
2. Select Accounts and Passwords.
3. Select Add Account.
4. Select Other as account type.
5. Select Add CardDAV account.
6. For server, type mail2.hosting.ca
7. Enter your full e-mail address for User Name, and then type your password.
8. Select Next.
9. Your contacts will now be visible in the Contacts application

CalDAV for iPhone

1. Open the settings application.
2. Select Accounts and Passwords.
3. Select Add Account.
4. Select Other as account type.
5. Select Add CalDAV account.
6. For server, type mail2.hosting.ca
7. Enter your full e-mail address for User Name, and then type your password.
8. Select Next.
9. Your calendar will now be visible in the Calendar application.
